"camera stopped working completely, said to see dealer on screen. "I WOULD GLADLY TRADE THE GAP SENSOR FOR A FRONT PARKING SENSOR! FRONT COLISION ALARM WORKS ONLY FOR TURNING TRAFFIC!" Super pissed off that i spent $46,000 on a new fully loaded car and my backup camera isn't working." So I tell people, if a vehicle is coming at us upside down, then it's still coming at us. It stopped working 5 years in, and no longer under warranty. My trusted auto mechanic said only dealer can do this work. Took to dealer, said i need a whole new camera $800 plus install. 90% of the time the image appears upside down on the screen. "It works OK when you first start the vehicle, yet after that, it does not work until the vehicle has been turned off for awhile." It will work for a few seconds and then gives me an error message. Hopefully, I can have the car serviced this summer (2020)." ![]() Due to relocation issues, have not been able to get the car in for repair, although when I mentioned it to the service department, they did indicate this could be a costly repair. Does works intermittently, sometimes full screen, sometimes upside down picture, and often the screen is covered in lines. "Back up camera failed around a year ago. Very upsetting FORD! Next compact SUV will either be an Audi or a BMW." I used it everyday when backing into a parking place, so I didn't back into the cement wall. Also, I park in a covered garage at work. We have to because of the way we park in our garage. Of course we always look behind the vehicle before getting in. We have children and the camera gave us a sense of security. I realize this is a convenience kind of item, but once you become dependent on it, it doesn't really seem so. Sometimes the camera stays on for several minutes when we put the Ford Edge in drive. It would throw an error code to go see your dealer. ![]() Then the picture was upside down or the screen would go completely black. First he alignment lines stopped showing up. "Backup camera worked great for the first year. ![]() I thought it should have lasted longer especially for as little as Zi use this car." Sometimes a black screen, sometimes an upside down view, sometimes no screen at all. When I took it in they just said its old and gets that way" ![]() The system performed well in Euro NCAP's tests, with a collision against a stationary car being avoided at almost all test speeds."The camera is very blurry, even though I have cleaned it according to Ford's directions. The Edge has an autonomous emergency braking system that operates at the low speeds, typical of city of driving, at which many whiplash injuries are caused. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision and a geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated good whiplash protection there, too. In the more severe side pole impact, dummy readings of rib compression indicated a marginal level of protection for the chest. In the side barrier test maximum points were scored, with good protection of all critical parts of the body. However, readings from the rear passenger dummy indicated poor protection of the head and chest, with injury parameters for both body regions exceeding safe limits. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection of the driver was good apart from the chest, protection of which was adequate. Ford showed that a similar level of protection would be provided to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger dummies. The passenger compartment of the Edge remained stable in the offset deformable barrier test.
